"My work is a self-portrait, a view of my internal struggles and triumphs which then becomes a shared human experience. I consider my work to be a visual statement about looking deeper, beyond the surface, in search of true understanding.”

Cat Huss (b. 1970) is an American contemporary abstract painter and mixed media artist. Cat's quest for self-discovery and understanding of the world around her is what fuels her creativity. She seeks to understand herself and the world better by expressing her impressions of it in layers of rich color and simple, almost minimal form…. giving a sense of the layered life filled with wonder, mystery, curiosity, and a quest for truth in self and others.

Cat is an independent artist. Her work has been featured in galleries, virtual exhibitions, and curated independent fairs throughout the United States. Her work is currently held in public and private collections in the United States, Europe, Japan and Australia.

“Informed by her deep communion with nature,

Cat creates meditative compositions that echo her introspective odyssey, with each artwork offering a glimpse into her inner terrain. Her work often starts with multiple layers of poured paint, resulting in a blend of colors, densities, and vibrancy. As the painting evolves, Huss continues to refine it, adding rough geometric shapes to bring order to the composition. Working primarily with acrylic paint, she incorporates elements such as graphite, paper, and soft pastels to enhance her vision. Describing her approach as "meticulously playful," Huss draws inspiration from a diverse range of sources, maintaining an extensive library of visual ideas.”
